Sustainable energy transitions in rural India

In collaboration with Swansea University the research builds on SUNRISE GCFF project which focuses on advancing solar energy technologies. The goal is to bridge the gap between research insights and real-world impact in sustainable energy transitions, particularly in rural India. The SUNRISE Oasis building constructed in Khuded in 2022 produces energy to run the building and provides surplus energy that can support villagers’ economic activities. The project includes workshops with villagers to learn from what is working well and what is not in terms of the building’s current operation and use, as well as the process used to plan, build and equip the building.
